Prison Walls

Her life was a prison

And she was locked in

Yet the key was dangling in front of her

She just never saw it

She lived her life

Staring at walls

Wondering why she was trapped

Why she couldn’t get out

And years passed by

She always missed it

The truth is,

Each of us are locked in our own prison cells

And the only way to escape is one simple word

It’s easy to say, harder to do

And when you hear it

Everything changes

About how you saw that person

The truth is that we lock up ourselves

When we try to lock up others

And the only way to fix it

A single word

To release the burden

And lay down the chains

It only takes a word

Forgiveness.
